Lisa Armstrong has revealed that she only saw good friend Dale Winton a few days ago, saying that she is “absolutely gutted” by his sudden death.

The estranged wife of TV presenter Ant McPartlin paid tribute to the Supermarket Sweep host on Thursday, hinting that he had offered her “support” in the wake of her divorce.

“Absolutely gutted, only saw him last week. He was one of life’s true gentleman, a heart of gold with a wicked sense of humour. RIP lovely man x,” she wrote on Twitter.

Armstrong added: “What a kind beautiful soul you are. Will never forget your words and support. RIP #dalewinton.”

Winton died at the age of 62 at his London home on Wednesday, his agent confirmed.

"It is with great sadness that we can confirm the passing of Dale Winton who died at home earlier today," long-term agent Jan Kennedy said in a statement.

"While we know many will share this terrible loss, we ask that you respect the family's privacy at this time of grief."

Much-loved personality Winton was also known for shows Family Fortunes and In It To Win It as well as, most recently Channel 5's Dale Winton's Florida Fly Drive.

A host of stars paid tribute to Winton following the news, including Davina McCall and Piers Morgan.

Good friend David Walliams wrote on Twitter: “Dale was the best company, always outrageous & hilarious. He adored being in show business & loved meeting fans.

“He devoted his life to making everyone else happy, his friends, the public & his godsons, even though he found it hard to be happy himself. I pray he has found peace.”
