Heart health boost linked to three popular hot drinks, new research suggests
A new study has found that some of our favourite hot drinks could have a surprising impact on our health.
A group of scientists from the Sapienza University of Rome, Italy have said that they might have found a connection between consuming high-caffeine drinks including coffee, tea and hot chocolate and a reduction in the chances of heart disease.
Studying a group of 31 people suffering from Lupus over the course of a week, the experts found that the blood pressure of the participants who had drank caffeine more frequently had lower blood pressure, which is said to help decrease the potential of developing heart disease, reports Gloucestershire Live.
According to the NHS, Lupus, is 'a long-term condition that causes joint pain, skin rashes and tiredness. There's no cure, but symptoms can improve if treatment starts early.'

While some who suffer from Lupus can also have heart related diseases, none of those involved in the investigation had heart or vascular issues.
The authors of the study said that caffeine acts as an anti-inflammatory “because it binds with the receptors expressed on the surface of immune cell”, which has been strongly linked to having a positive impact on our heart health.
One of those involved in carrying out the investigation, Fulvia Ceccarelli concluded that further proof is possibly needed to confirm their findings: "The present study aims to provide patients with information about the possible role of diet in disease control."
She added: "It will be necessary to confirm the results through a longitudinal study aimed at evaluating the real impact of coffee consumption on disease progression."
Meanwhile, speaking earlier this year Stephen Devries, MD, a preventive cardiologist and executive director of the educational nonprofit Gaples Institute in Chicago had similar beliefs when it came to the impact of coffee and tea on our heart health as he said: “Both coffee and tea are linked to a host of health benefits, including reduced risk of cardiovascular disease, lower risk of type 2 diabetes and improved longevity.
“Most of the benefits are noted with intake in the range of two–five cups per day,”
