The heart-warming moment dozens of people form human chain to help shop owner
Loyal customers of a local Cardiff shop formed a 70-strong human chain to help it move premises. The Iechyd Da self serve wholefood shop in Whitchurch moved a few hundred yards up the road to new premises.
Owner Alwen Lewis put out an appeal and people came out in force to help her and her staff shift more than 200 boxes of stock and kit to the new shop a few hundred yards up Merthyr Road. All in all many hands made light work and it only took around an hour on Sunday morning, said Alwen.
"Nearly 70 people turned up and passed 258 boxes from shop to shop all in an hour - amazing. I can't believe how kind and supportive everyone is and I feel overwhelmed and grateful."
Alwen moved her shop from her old premises at 10-11 Merthyr Road to bigger premises at 37 Merthyr Road, where she'll be open next week. The shop has been a fixture on the road since opening five years ago.
Iechyd Da is a self serve health food shop where customers re-fill containers with produce they buy. The new shop is bigger and Alwen has also expanded and will be selling gifts now as well as food.
