Heartbreaking tributes to 'funny and kind' Huddersfield man, 49, after holiday tragedy
Tributes have been paid to a 'funny, kind and caring' man who died suddenly while on holiday with his wife.
Guy Woodbridge, of Slaithwaite, Huddersfield, was on holiday in Bulgaria with his wife Sam when he tragically died after being taken ill in their hotel on Thursday, September 26. He was 49.
Tributes have been paid by Guy's stepdaughter, Kelly Drake, who described him as a kind and loving man who had made her mum very happy. The couple had been together for nine years and married for six.

Kelly said: "He was lovely, funny, kind and very caring. He took on me and my younger brother even though he didn't have to - he chose to. He loved me and my brother like we were his. He made my mum really happy."
She added: "Guy was definitely my mum's soulmate. He made her really happy. They shared a really good sense of humour together."
Sam has been left devastated by the loss of her husband and had to face the agonising journey back to Huddersfield without him. Guy, who worked as a chef, was well known in the Slaithwaite area as he and Sam had helped vulnerable people in the Colne Valley during the Covid pandemic.
A GoFundMe page has now been set up to help Sam following the sudden death of her husband. Sam and Guy were described as 'pillars of the community' on the page.
The fund has a £2,000 target and has raised more than £1,200 from over 70 donations so far. The Go Fund Me page can be found here. Kelly thanked everyone who had donated to the online fund and those who had sent flowers and cards to her mum.
Speaking about the Go Fund Me page, Kelly said: "I think it is a really lovely thing to do, especially for my mum. The support my mum is getting is amazing."
Entitled 'In memory of Guy Woodbridge. Help support Sam Woodbridge', the GoFundMe says: "Everyone in the Slaithwaite group will know the name Guy Woodbridge, for his dedicated years of countless hours in supporting our community and group.
"Today, 26th September 2024, Sam has informed us of his passing while on holiday together abroad.
"Guy and Sam and others supported those in need during Covid and has prepared meals as chefs for Slaithwaite Mutual Aid (now Colne Valley Help) for vulnerable residents of Colne Valley.
"People like Guy and Sam are the pillars that hold up our community. To those that have met him, they will know how friendly and kind he was, giving countless hours to admin the group voluntarily.
"Guy and his wife Sam had been on holiday in Bulgaria and Sam is now in need of support for this awful situation. Being abroad, facing the passing of her husband. I am hoping as a group we can all quickly come together to offer financial and emotional support to Sam who will be needing this right now.
"Guy and Sam live round the corner from me, and have always been incredibly friendly and kind people. It is devastating what Sam is going through alone. So let's support her any way we can."
