‘Heartbroken’ Tom Holland reveals he was originally meant to cameo in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse

Tom Holland has revealed that he was originally scheduled to provide a cameo in last year’s animated superhero tale Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and that he was “heartbroken” when it didn’t happen.

On the film’s release, fans were quick to question why Holland’s Peter Parker wasn’t featured, which saw New York teenager Miles Morales encounter an array of different Spider-Mans existing in parallel universes.

Characters including a 38-year-old Peter Parker, Spider-Woman and an anthropomorphic superpowered pig known as Spider-Ham were all included, but Holland’s Peter Parker, a character he has played in live-action since 2016, was noticeably missing. Holland has now confirmed that his absence wasn’t always the case.

“At one point I was supposed to be in it,” he revealed to JOE. “There was going to be another Peter Parker… There was like a scene in a train station or something, and it was going to be like an Easter egg. I was going to walk through the background or something, and say like ‘Hey, kid.’”

“Never happened,” he added. “Heartbroken.”

Holland also revealed that he would love to see the Miles Morales character, and voiceover actor Shameik Moore, transfer into the Marvel Cinematic Universe at some point in the future.

“He’s really, really good in it,” he said. “I’m just excited to introduce Miles into our own universe one day. I think that’s going to be really good.”
