Hearts fans chant Steven Naismith ‘get to f***’ after EIGHTH straight loss as Saints pile on the pain - 3 talking points
Raging Hearts fans let frustrations be known at full-time as they continue to prop up the table after defeat to St Mirren in Paisley made it EIGHT defeats on the spin in a horror start to the season.
The 1500 fans who who made the trip across the M8 Gorgie aimed chants for manager Steven Naismith to "get to f***" as goals from Richard Taylor and Toyosi Olusanya condemned them to another defeat, with Craig Halkett scoring in between. The Edinburgh side came into this one propping up the rest of the Premiership table with their only point coming against Rangers on the opening day, piling the pressure on Naismith.
Meanwhile, Robinson’s men were on a run of seven straight games without a win until today against the Jambos. It was the visitors who had the two early chances which both fell to Blair Spittal but he couldn’t find the net on either occasion.
Buddies defender Taylor made the most of the missed chances by opening his St Mirren account on eight minutes. But the Gorgie side equalised 10 minutes later through a Halkett header from a corner. Olusanya put the Paisley side back in front after getting on the end of a flick on and lashing beyond Craig Gordon before the striker missed an opportunity at the beginning of the second half to make it 3-1. Buddies sub Kevin Van Veen could have made the game safe only to shoot wide but the points were save.
Naisy on the brink
Having finished third last season, Hearts are now a staggering 14 points behind Aberdeen already. The defeat leaves them languishing at the bottom of the table with Ross County up next.
The Gorgie faithful must be wondering when their luck is going to turn. They turned in a good performance to claim a point against Rangers on the opening day of the season but that’s as good as it has got for the Jambos this term. A run of form which has questions surrounding the former Scotland striker future as gaffer being asked.
Buddie good job
St Mirren have finally ended their run of seven of games without a win after two 2-2 draws in a row against Kilmarnock and Dundee respectively. It has been frustrating for manager Stephen Robinson that his side’s defending hasn’t seen them been able to get more points out of the previous two matches having taken the lead twice in both games. Now today’s victory will surely satisfy the Northern Irishman as he looks to build up positive momentum once again.
Six-y Olusanya
Toyosi Olusanya has now netted six goals in his 11 matches so far this campaign and has terrified defenders with his running power. Not forgetting this is a player who was once on bench for Arbroath when they were bottom of the Scottish Championship. Now he’s vital part in Stephen Robinson’s starting lineup on a consistent basis - and growing by the game.
