Unique gift ideas from plants to perfumes will be on sale at a Christmas night market being hosted by a city brewery which will helping to support West End Food Bank.

Anarchy Brewery, maker of the popular Wor Beer, will be out to raise festive spirits - and funds - at its evening market on December 13 which will feature around 20 stalls selling a wide range of local products from hand-made crafts to clothing. Visitors to the brewery in Heaton on the night will find, alongside Christmas gift ideas, a pick of street food and drink stalls while live music will be adding to the atmosphere courtesy of Anth Holder, DJ at Rise club.

Anarchy will have a range of its own brews on sale too of course among the mix of Christmas market traders while its sister company Dot Bagel will be one of the food options on offer which will also include Big Fat Donut Company; Balefire Sauce and street food vendors Lucca Pizza Co and Vietnamese-inspired sandwich-maker The Big Banh. Vegan choices will include Tyne Chease, which makes nut-based cheeses, and Smashin Pasties.

Shoppers also will be able to pick up the likes of Scotch eggs from The Yolker; sweet treats from The Little Cakery By The Sea and loose tea from Love Leaf Tea. The market will run from 5pm to 11pm and its celebration of what it calls "the very best of Tyneside produce, crafts and entertainment" will see participating vendors donate a percentage of their night's profits to West End Food Bank.

The traders are also making charity donations in lieu of paying a fee for a stall and there will be a collection point too for visitors wanting to offer donations. Those who still have Christmas shopping to do will find a selection of gift ideas including art and home accessories on sale at both Stix Studio and Bianco Perry stalls; skincare products from Lilac and Thyme plus perfumes, cosmetics and candles from Witchy Woman.

More candles will be on offer at a Hot Wax stall; Hookd in Heaton will have a selection of crochet and macramé crafts; Rat Salad will be selling jewellery and artists The Little Wilderness and Holly Melissa will be showing their work. Other options are to include a variety of plants at Plantopia and a range of alternative clothing from No Kind Of Home.

Scott Nendick, taproom manager at the Anarchy Brewery whose own stall will be selling T-shirts and merchandise alongside beer gift sets, said: “We’re proud to be a Tyneside brewery and this night market is a chance to showcase other fantastic Tyneside products." He encourages as many people as possible to go along to support small local businesses - children and dogs are welcome too - and he says the family-friendly event will have "great food" as well as "some really unusual gifts that you can’t get on the high street".

Anarchy also makes a donation to the NUFC fan-funded group Wor Flags from every pint or can of Wor Beer sold, either online or through the local pubs and venues it supplies which include the city's St James' Stack.
