Heavy Rain Causes Road Collapse in Nova Scotia

Heavy rain caused part of a road to collapse into rushing water in the town of Antigonish, Nova Scotia, on Monday, July 29.

Local confectioner Tareq Hadhad, who recorded the video, told Storyful that “an incredible amount of rain – like never before – has destroyed several roads in the area and left our team’s cars stuck behind.”

Marla MacInnis, a spokesperson for the government of Nova Scotia, told local media that the road in the video is a private road and that no public roads in Antigonish were impassable as of Monday night.

Hadhad told media that if he were driving only a few hours later, it would have been too dark to see the road and he could have been in danger.
