Heavy Snow Causes Havoc in Northern Japan

The Japan Meteorological Agency warned that strong winds and snowstorms would sweep across the country’s north on January 19. Up to 50 centimeters of snow was forecast for the area by early Wednesday, January 20.

In Osaki, whiteout conditions caused a fatal pileup of around 140 vehicles, NHK reported.
