Snow showers swept California’s greater Lake Tahoe area, on Tuesday, January 10, causing hazardous travel conditions, the National Weather Service (NWS) said.
The NWS said accumulations of four to eight inches, or eight to 16 inches within bands of heavier snow, was possible throughout the region.
According to the California Highway Patrol, snow coupled with high winds forced the partial shutdown of Interstate 80 in the Tahoe area on Tuesday. I-80 was closed westbound at the Nevada state line and eastbound at Colfax “due to high winds and whiteout driving conditions.”
