Hector Bellerin hints he's more likely to stay at Arsenal if Arsene Wenger does

Hector Bellerin has hinted his long-term future at Arsenal could be linked to whether manager Arsene Wenger stays on at the club.

Standard Sport understands Wenger is torn over his future at Arsenal, though he admitted to us after the Gunners' loss to West Brom on Saturday he has already made a decision about whether to stay or leave the club he joined more than 20 years ago.

Bellerin admits he is fiercely loyal to the Frenchman because he believed in him when he brought him to Arsenal from Barcelona aged 16.

And despite interest from his former club, the Spanish right-back has suggested Wenger staying on at Arsenal past this summer - when his current contract with the Gunners expires - could play a role in his own future at the club.

"The loyalty one has to a person is worth more than money, it is something that is very important for me," Bellerin told Spanish newspaper El Mundo Deportivo.

"And him being there carries a lot of weight for me."

Bellerin signed a new six-and-a-half-year contract at Arsenal last November following interest from Barcelona and Manchester City.

Wenger recently dismissed the idea that the 22-year-old could be tempted to leave the Emirates Stadium for a move to either of those clubs, although the defender has since labelled Barcelona's interest as "special".

He revealed that City, now coached by former Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola, have also expressed an interest in signing him but would only say that such attention from other clubs shows he is performing well for the Gunners.

"I know that City is interested in me. It is flattering that a coach such as Guardiola would consider me. It is a sign that things are going well for me," he said.
