Heineken Cup Round-Up: Clermont Beat Leinster

Clermont Auvernge have beaten Heineken Cup holders Leinster 15-12 at the Stade Marcel Michelin.

The win moves the French side five points clear of the Irish province in Pool 5 after the half-way mark of the matches.

Both teams failed to score a try and Morgan Parra's 12 points from the boot, along with Brock James’ drop goal just before the half-time whistle, was eventually the difference.

Cardiff Blues’ chances of the reaching the knockout stage took a huge blow though as they lost 35-24 to Montpellier.

Scrum-half Lloyd Williams was sent off after 24 minutes for a tip-tackle and the Blues never really recovered, eventually shipping three tries and failing to go over themselves.

Yoan Audrin, Mamuka Gorgodze and Tomoci Nagusa all crossed for the French side, who are now five points behind Toulon in Pool 6.

Leicester Tigers got their second win of the competition after seeing off Treviso 33-25 at Welford Road.

A penalty try opened the scoring and there were further scores from Manu Tuilagi, Matt Smith and two from Julian Slavi.

They’re back up to second in Pool 2, three points behind leaders Toulouse.
