Heinz has launched a new flavour of baked beans, which people have dubbed as “peak British”.

The brand has given fans its latest weird and wonderful creation... with a surprising festive twist.

Shoppers can now buy the limited-edition Pigs In Blankets tins of baked beans (with Christmas Seasoning), and it’s fair to say the product has well and truly divided people.

It is a mix of sausages and beans, complete with a secret festive ‘seasoning’ to get you in the mood for Christmas.

Shoppers have since taken to the internet to have their say on whether the festive tin of baked beans is acceptable.

One wrote: “Honestly I am tempted, it feels like peak Britishness has hit”, while another added: “I bet these are good in a post-Christmas sandwich.”

Another said: “I am a big lover of sausages and beans, they have a lot to live up to but I am very interested in trying.”

But not all were impressed. One person said: “The “Christmas seasoning” is especially troubling…” while another added: “This has all gone too far. This sounds gross.”

One commenter, going by the name u/Exotic-Astronaut6662 said they’d actually already tried the Pigs In Blankets Beanz.

They said: ”I bought a tin from Sainsbury’s in the interest of science, tasted ok, not sure what the Christmas seasoning was, possibly a slight taste of stuffing. There were 4 or 5 sausages about 0.0278 fathoms in length.”

It’s not known how long the limited-edition product will be available for.

The product description reads: “Jingle All the Way Need proof that Santa got your wish list? Well, here it is! Beanz, pigs in blankets, and Christmas seasoning all in one can. No need to wait for the big day. Crack them open for a taste of Christmas on your toast.”

The new arrival comes after Heinz recently launched a very cheeky “upside down” tin of baked beans. The £1.40 Beanz Means Upside Down tin was designed to ensure beans “slip out with ease” on opening after a survey found that fans were scrapping the bottom of tins to make sure none go wasted.

Are baked beans British or American?

A surprising fact as we are a nation of baked bean enthusiasts, but a little-known fact is that baked beans do not originally hail from the UK.

They were first introduced in 1901 by an American man, Henry Heinz, owner of the Heinz food company. In 1905, Mr Heinz started to advertise his baked beans as the perfect pre-cooked meal at the end of a long day in a factory. They were instantly popular.

How many calories are in a tin of baked beans?

Full of fibre and low in fat, baked beans are a kitchen cupboard staple in many British homes.

One serving of Heinz Beanz Baked Beans In Tomato Sauce 415g is considered half a can and contains 33.7g total carbs, 26g net carbs, 0.4g fat, 9.7g protein, and 163 calories.
