Helen Flanagan appears to be struggling to get to grips with dating following her split from Scott Sinclair, after she made a chaotic start to Celebs Go Dating.

The former Coronation Street star, who became emotional last week while speaking about her 2022 break up with long-term partner Sinclair, is on the hunt for love again on the E4 dating series.

But things did not go smoothly in her first appearance, as she labelled herself a "psycho b****" in one chat and told another potential date that she had "sweaty boobs".

Former soap star Flanagan is ready to find love again after splitting with her partner of 13 years, footballer Scott Sinclair, in 2022 - but after so many years out of the dating game, she was struggling to get to grips with Celebs Go Dating.

Corrie star and mum-of-three Flanagan is a contestant on the new series of the E4 show alongside Made In Chelsea's Tristan Phipps, Love Island's Chris Taylor, Gogglebox's Stephen Webb, MAFS UK star Ella Morgan, singer and Hollyoaks star Jamelia, and Kyle Walker's ex Lauryn Goodman.

The new group of celebs looking for love met their potential matches at a Bridgerton-style masquerade ball in Monday's debut episode, watched on by experts Anna Williamson, Paul C Brunson and Dr Tara.

But while the masks were supposed to encourage contestants to be more open, Flanagan ended up oversharing in a chaotic start to the series.

She began by trying to strike up a bond with single Ross, who quickly shut things down by telling her he was gay.

Flanagan replied: "You're gay? Oh, I thought that you were straight, I was trying to chat you up. These masks are throwing off my gaydar, I'm so bad at this!"

Next, she launched into a conversation by discussing her ex Sinclair and adding: "I can be sweet. It depends on the time of the month, I'm either lovely or a psycho b****."

In her next date, Flanagan blurted out to a flustered contestant: "It's really really hot isn't it, I feel like I've got sweaty boobs!"

Eventually, Flanagan decided on sports massage therapist Luke for a date - but as Ella Morgan also chose the same man, viewers will find out in tonight's episode who Luke picked.

Last week, Flanagan broke down in tears while talking about her split from Sinclair as she joined her former Corrie mum Sally Dynevor on Loose Women.

Asked by the panel whether she believed in happy ever after, she said: "Scott was my world, I always thought we were going to be together, always."

Denise Welch told her: "I just know that you really struggled - could you just take us through because you had a breakdown, a real psychotic breakdown."

Flanagan tried to fight back tears and was offered tissues as she said: "Gosh, I didn't think I would get so emotional today!"

She added: "I think it was just sometimes when I see the headlines it could just be really triggering. I just think what it was - I didn't really want to talk about it and I think the reason why I spoke about it was because I just started to do a six-month theatre tour."

The star has also spoken before about having a bad reaction to her ADHD medication during the stressful time in her life, and said she would like to see media reports handle celebrity break ups "more sensitively".

Ahead of Celebs Go Dating starting, Flanagan told The Mirror: "I like an older man because I feel like they are more emotionally mature, a bit more sensitive.

"When I go on a date I like it to be with someone who’s maybe been through divorce and who has kids because I feel like they understand me a bit better. I love funny guys, I feel like a good energy is important. The milf needs a dilf!"

Celebs Go Dating airs on E4 at 9pm from Monday to Thursday.
