Helicopter Drops Water on Wildfire in Medora, North Dakota

A wildfire sparked near Medora, North Dakota, on Thursday, April 1, spurring a state of emergency declaration and evacuations.

Footage shared by the North Dakota National Guard shows smoke clouding the sun on Thursday evening as firefighters battled the growing flames. Interstate 94 was temporarily shut down by the state Department of Transportation.

The Billings County Sheriff’s Office told local media nearly 3,000 acres had burned near Medora.
