Henrikh Mkhitaryan wages won't stop Arsenal transfer, says Arsene Wenger, as Alexis Sanchez nears Manchester United move

Arsene Wenger says wages will not be an issue in the deal to bring Henrikh Mkhitaryan to Arsenal as part of Alexis Sanchez’s Manchester United move.

Wenger, despite claiming the Chilean could still play for the Gunners against Crystal Palace on Saturday, says a deal with their bitter rivals is now ‘likely’.

United look set to pull off another coup, having snatched Romelu Lukaku from under the noses of Chelsea in the summer, beating Manchester City to a deal for Sanchez.

However, Mkhitaryan holds the key and reports have suggested that there could be a few stumbling blocks regarding the Armenian’s wage packet, though Wenger says they’ll be no issue.

“The wages will not be a problem,” said Wenger.

“Yes of course. If it’s a possibility because I like the player,” he added when asked for his thoughts on the United playmaker.

“We played many times against him. He appreciates the quality of our game and the way we play football.

“That’s why he loves the club as well.”
