Henry Cavill's new movie is heading to Prime Video

Henry Cavill and Eiza González's new film The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare is heading to Prime Video.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lionsgate and Amazon have teamed up to buy the rights to the movie, with the former securing US distribution rights and the latter acquiring rights in various other territories, including Europe, Central and South America, and India.

Directed by Guy Ritchie and inspired by real events, the World War II epic will follow Winston Churchill and James Bond author Ian Fleming as they start up their secret WWII combat organisation.

The unit's unconventional fighting tactics against the Nazis helped turn the direction of the war and introduced what is now known as the Black Ops unit.

Cavil and González are joined in the film by Henry Golding, Cary Elwes, Alan Ritchson, Henry Zaga, Alex Pettyfer, Hero Fiennes Tiffin, Babs Olusanmokun, and Til Schweiger.

It's also been reported that Lionsgate is planning a theatrical release for The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare next year, with the movie positioned as the first of a possible franchise.

Following news that principal photography began in Turkey on February 13, Ritchie and the film's producers said in a statement: "As we begin production in Turkey, though we will be several hundred miles from the epicenter of the recent earthquakes, we do so with profound sympathy for everyone affected.

"Our thoughts are with the members of our crew with family in the region. We wish to express our sincere condolences to the people of Turkey.

"We stand by them and are committed to supporting members of our production team and the wider community over the coming weeks and months."
