They’re coming!

Have you ever found yourself typing a message and thought, ‘You know what, I wish there was an emoji for ‘kangaroo’ or ‘mango’?’

If so, you’re in luck.

A new set of 157 emoji are coming to both iPhone and Android later this year.

The emoji 11.0 set includes more bald-headed emoji, a hot face, a cold face, a lab coat, llama, raccoon, lobster, hippopotamus, parrot and kangaroo.

There are 77 distinct emoji, with several skin tone options, taking the total to 157.

The new emoji are decided by a committee at Unicode, which includes experts from Apple, Google, Facebook and other emoji experts such as Jeremy Burge from Emojipedia.

Unicode is a non-profit group which makes standard characters for use across different computer software – so, with these emoji, other companies will also do their own versions.
