At last – Game of Thrones season 8's air date has finally been revealed.
HBO has now officially confirmed the premiere date, and the final run of Game of Thrones episodes will start airing on Sunday, April 14, 2019, as announced in this teaser where Jon Snow (Kit Harington), Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) and Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) assemble.
But before that, there was the reveal of the reveal (yes!) as the network's official Twitter shared a screenshot of a mock text conversation, teasing the premiere date of the GoT's eighth and final season.
In the conversation, a fictional TV boss person confirmed that fans would be able to find out the premiere date on Sunday, before the season three premiere of True Detective.
HBO's actual boss Richard Plepler recently teased fans of what to expect from the final season, admitting that he was "in awe" while watching the "spectacular" last episodes.
Plepler has even promised that all of the final six episodes are like movies.
"It's a spectacle," he told Variety. "The guys have done six movies. The reaction I had while watching them was, 'I'm watching a movie.'"
He added of showrunners David Benioff and DB Weiss: "They knew the bar was high. They've exceeded the bar. I've watched them twice without any CGI and I'm in awe. Everybody's in for an extraordinary treat of storytelling and of magical, magical production."
