Donald Trump’s distinctive tweeting style has been given a makeover that makes each tweet look like it was scribbled in crayon.

A downloadable web browser extension for Chrome and Firefox automatically transforms Trump’s tweets into childish handwriting.

Called ‘Make Trump Tweets Eight Again’, the extension is the work of American satirical TV programme The Daily Show.

“We made a browser extension that converts Trump’s tweets back into their rightful state: a child’s scribble,” said The Daily Show on a website for the new extension.

As well as converting the tweets into a barely readable scrawl, they are also written different colours, as if the president were using a selection of crayons.

The US President was widely criticised for his writing style on Twitter throughout his Presidential campaign, and the mockery has only intensified since he entered the White House last month.

His @realDonaldTrump Twitter handle is well known for an overuse of exclamation marks, botched grammar and an alarmingly bellicose tone as well as ongoing accusations of “fake news!”.

To download the extension, Chrome and Firefox users can head to the Make Trump Tweets Eight Again website where they’ll be directed to the relevant web stores.

So far, the user reviews for the Chrome extension are almost uniformly positive, with one writing: “While this extension doesn’t make the pain of Twitter’s mere existence tolerable to me, it does at least make me smirk when I see one of his preposterous tweets written in a visual style matching the intelligence behind them”.

Another user said: “While the extension name is highly offensive to eight year olds, this does make my daily twitter scroll/sob less painful”.
