Kim Kardashian met President Trump at the White House yesterday, in a bid to discuss prison reform.
The reality star, 37, reportedly met Trump to ask for a Presidential pardon to be handed to Alice Marie Johnson, a 63-year-old grandmother who is serving a life sentence for a first-time non-violent drug offence.
But while Kardashian’s visit was an undoubtedly noble cause, there’s something uniquely 2018 about the whole thing – and it prompted quite a bit of reaction on Twitter.
‘You are Melania now’, joked one user – after the First Lady was forced to speak out over a series of public absences.
Others, meanwhile, wondered if Trump knew that he wasn’t meeting with a certain North Korean Kim.

Speaking after the meeting, Kardashian said: ‘I would like to thank President Trump for his time this afternoon.
‘It is our hope that the President will grant clemency to Ms. Alice Marie Johnson who is serving a life sentence for a first-time, non-violent drug offense.’
She added: ‘We are optimistic about Ms. Johnson’s future and hopeful that she -and so many like her-will get a second chance at life’
Trump added: ‘Great meeting with @KimKardashian today, talked about prison reform and sentencing.’

Kardashian’s meeting comes after her husband Kanye West controversially aligned himself with the President.
He met the President at Trump Tower shortly after his election victory, and was pictured wearing a cap bearing the slogan, ‘Make America Great Again’, a phrase associated with Mr Trump.
