PAOLO Nutini has broken a record following his latest Glasgow shows, it has been revealed.

The famous singer and songwriter, from Paisley, performed FIVE sold-out shows at the OVO Hydro this month.

Today, the venue revealed that he is the first musical artist to complete such a residency there.

A post on the Hydro's Twitter account read: "Congratulations to @PaoloNutini for a record-breaking five nights at the OVO Hydro this December! He's the first musical artist to complete such a residency at our venue."

The Glasgow Times reviewed the first of Paolo's performances last week.

When opening the show, he said: "I have been so looking forward to these gigs man. This is a Christmas present for us,” before he unwrapped a set that was bursting with songs old and new.

Grinning from ear to ear, he added: “Hello Glasgow, let’s have fun.”
