Here's How to Get a Whole Set of Dumbbells for Under £20

From Women's Health

No need to worry – the days of home gym equipment being harder to find than motivation for those early morning workouts seem to be behind us. However, that doesn't mean you can rest on your fully-stocked-gym laurels. With the nation in various tiers of lockdown, the chances of returning (or sticking) to mostly home workouts seems likely and being prepared for that eventuality is key.

Earlier this year, when the world was opening up and we were all being urged out of our houses to 'eat out' (hark back to those hazy days), I spied a deal on adjustable dumbbells from Argos. For under £20, I bought them thinking they'd be a good piece of kit to have in my back pocket when I needed a decent at home sweat. Little did I know they'd end up being my best purchase of 2020. A full set of dumbbells in one? Into it!

With easily adjustable plates (1.25kg each), you can change the weight of each dumbbell depending on which exercise you're doing. That means you have both light and heavy weights at your disposal. (Gym rack, who?)

For strength training days featuring big lower body movements like deadlifts and squat variations, I make each dumbbell as heavy as poss. For higher rep upper body sessions, I go for a middling weight – all made possible by the spin-on, spin-off weight plates. I'm happy even if my biceps are not.

At only £19.99, I'd suggest you snap them up sharpish. Or, if you're looking for something slightly heavier, Argos still have a couple of the 20kg adjustable dumbbell sets in stock, for only £5 more. Get in.
