Hero Police Chief Rescues Woman and Daughter From Freezing River

Elmwood Park Police Chief Michael Foligno used a borrowed kayak and shovel to claw his way across a frozen New Jersey lake to rescue a woman and her two-year-old daughter on February 4, according to reports.

“I couldn’t sit still and do nothing," NorthJersey.com quoted Foligno as saying.

Two firefighters then reached the kayak with a sled rescue device and took the woman and the girl to safety. Credit: Kyle Mazza | UNF NEWS via Storyful
