'Hero' who rescued pensioner on mobility scooter from A38 Aston Expressway 'deserves award'
A "hero" truck driver who helped rescue a pensioner on a mobility scooter from the A38 Aston Expressway has been told he deserves an award. The elderly woman drove down a huge stretch of the 50mph motorway before she was stopped at Dartmouth Circus.
Thankfully, a kind-hearted recovery truck driver managed to shield and escort the woman throughout her journey by blocking the lane behind her. He was concerned after noticing her 'swapping lanes' though admitted she appeared unfazed.
The Good Samaritan's wife, who chose to remain anonymous, told BirminghamLive her husband put his lights on and escorted her the entire way before police arrived. "My husband phoned police to alert them," she said.
