A secluded tropical oasis in Islington loved by Hollywood stars has been listed for rent for £12,500 a month through Dexters.

Originally a dairy farm, the house in Roman Way was lived in by actors Kirsten Dunst, while filming How to Lose Friends and Alienate People, and Heath Ledger during filming for The Dark Knight.

“It was also a filming location for Britain’s Next Top Model,” said owner Andy Williams, 72, who added that he once met an elderly man who could recall cattle being herded from Islington market through Roman Way.

Williams’ brother owned a furniture factory at the property in 2001 and, three years later, it was converted into a six-bedroom, five-bathroom house now available to rent.

“Kirsten used to like going to the Hemingford Arms just down the road from Roman Way,” said Williams. “Both she and Heath enjoyed using the property to entertain.”

“The house lends itself well to gatherings and parties as all the doors in the three living rooms open out onto the courtyard. Of course, there’s also the large private rooftop terrace, which unlike most London gardens receives plenty of sunshine.”

The inner courtyard, which has a pond at its centre, is lined with palm trees.

A second pond sits on the rooftop terrace which also has a kitchenette for entertaining.

A separate flat included in the rental has been used in the past as accommodation for au pairs says Adam King of Dexters who are marketing the property.
