Some Christmas markets are massively commercialised, and end up missing that local, cosy feel. One of Essex's markets has been named among the best in the UK, and is quite the hidden gem - with plenty of fun things to see and do at a low cost.

WhichBingo.co.uk is celebrating the UK’s hidden festive gems with its list of the Top 10 Quirky Christmas Markets You’ve Never Heard Of. These markets offer unique, local experiences away from the commercial giants.

We are lucky to have one of these quirky markets in our county! The Barleylands Festive Fair, in Billericay, will be held on Saturday November 30, complete with free entry and entertainment.

There will be unique boutiques and stalls, perfect to purchase some Christmas gifts. Of course, Barleylands is also a farm - so you can spend the whole day meeting the animals while getting in the festive spirit!

Barleylands Farm Park is also home to our indoor animal barn where you can get close to the farmyard animals and cuddly creatures. Also undercover is an indoor sand pit, ball blasting arena, as well as the Indoor Play Barn, packed with soft play adventures - so you can visit the park in rain or shine.

Barleylands said of the event: "Please come and join us to help get the 2024 festivities underway! We are very excited to host the event from 10am-4pm where you will be able to shop for gifts from our unique boutiques and stall holders, enjoy a selection of food and drinks, all whilst soaking in the atmosphere."

WhichBingo said of the market: "Set on a working farm, this market combines handmade crafts, artisan goods and a family-friendly atmosphere. Santa’s grotto, a festive farm trail and cozy countryside vibes make this market truly special."
