'High-risk' suspect caught hiding in Birmingham gardens

Police make arrest of alleged domestic abuse offender

A police drone helped locate an alleged domestic abuse suspect hiding in gardens. Police said the drone assisted their probe in Handsworth.

It said a "high risk domestic abuse offender" had evaded capture. Commentary from the drone operator was fed back to local officers on the ground.

A man was later detained by five officers in a picture issued by police. Police inquiries are ongoing.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, WMP Eye in the Sky posted: "Drone assisting Handsworth @ResponseWMP after a High Risk Domestic Abuse Offender evaded capture. Drones located the male hiding in gardens, tracked him whilst giving commentary to local officers who were able to make the arrest, he now awaits questioning. DW log 546 30/5/24."
