High Rollers: Toilet Paper Was the Currency at COVID-19 Poker Party Held Prior to Lockdown

Before strict COVID-19 social distancing guidelines were announced in California, a Los Angeles man had some pals over for a poker game with unusually high stakes, as the men gambled with their respective toilet paper stashes.

Raj Gujral posted the footage of the friends at his home in the city of Thousand Oaks – in the greater Los Angeles area – to YouTube on March 16, before a mandatory stay-home order was issued for Californians on March 20.

Speaking to Storyful about the social gathering in the video, Gujral said, “During the initial stage of social distancing, we only met with our immediate friends. That same week, my family and I pretty much isolated ourselves at home.”
