Hikers Amazed by Grappling Bears in Alaskan National Park

Travelers on a guided hike got an extremely close look at two bears confronting each other at Lake Clark National Park in Alaska.

Alison Monda’s video from June 22 shows the dramatic encounter, as two bears run across an estuary before standing on their hind legs and growling at each other.

“This is so cool,” Monda says in the video.

Monda told Storyful the bears were possibly scared by a bush plane that was flying in the area, so “they took off after each other right in front of us.”

There are over 200 coastal brown bears in the park, according to its website. Credit: Alison Monda/@Get_the_f_outside via Storyful
