Hillary Clinton says Trump's budget shows an 'unimaginable level of cruelty'

Hillary Clinton may have lost the election to President Donald Trump, but the former secretary of State hasn’t let that keep her from speaking out.

Ms Clinton said that Mr Trump’s budget — which slashes $3.6 trillion in domestic program funding — shows an “unimaginable level of cruelty” for millions of Americans and children.

“This administration and Republicans in Congress are mounting an onslaught against the needs of children and people with disabilities, women and seniors,” Ms Clinton said after being honored by the Children’s Health Fund in New York City.

“None of us can remain silent in the face of these attacks,” she continued.

Mr Trump released a budget that would make broad and drastic cuts to programs including those geared toward the poor and disabled. It includes cuts to food stamps, Medicaid, highway funding, crop insurance, medical research, and many others.

“It hurts the well-being of children,” Ms Clinton continued. “It’s time dos end a resounding message that we will not stand for this attack on the most vulnerable among us.”

Ms Clinton appears undaunted by her surprise loss in November to Mr Trump, an outcome that had alluded most if not all sophisticated polling and election forecasting.

Although her first sighting in public was days later as she took a stroll in the woods outside her Chappaqua, New York, home, she has more recently publicly identified herself as part of the Trump resistance, and has vowed to fight his policies as a private citizen. She launched a new group to push back against his agenda earlier this money, at the time saying it would “encourage people to get involved, organize and even run for office.”

It’s unclear if she plans on mounting another political campaign, though it has certainly been the source of speculation. Rumors have swirled that she may make a bid to become the mayor of New York City, though they have been in no way substantiated. Others have suggested that she may be contemplating a rematch of 2016 in 2020.
