One resident of the building said: "Full evacuation of Hilton Deansgate - all ok. We were on floor 22! Well done to responders."

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service has since confirmed that the cause of the evacuation was a faulty alarm. Residents have since returned to the building.
