Hippos Take Part in Painting with Carers at Texas Zoo

A pair of hippos took part in spot of painting with the help of their carers at a Texas zoo, footage posted on October 19 shows.

Video shared by the San Antonio zoo, shows zookeepers smothering the animal’s faces in non-toxic paint, then pressing a canvas up to their snout, making an imprint.

In the caption accompanying the footage posted to Facebook, the zoo said, “painting is done with non-toxic paint as a voluntary training exercise and as a form of sensory enrichment, helping them become more comfortable and trusting during interactions with their caretakers.” Credit: San Antonio Zoo via Storyful
