A new aparthotel has opened in a historic building in Paisley town centre.

The Hazlitt Apartments are based in a listed building on Causeyside Street dating from 1908.

Guests visiting the town will be able to make use of the 18 apartments at the hotel. They range from studios to one- and two-bedroom suites and a beautiful bridal suite.

The building was the former home of Paisley Co-operative and is one of the most significant listed buildings in the town.

Ian Henderson, The Hazlitt Apartments owner, said: “This project has been in the pipeline for over 10 years and we’re delighted to welcome guests to experience this fantastic aparthotel.

“The building is steeped in history and our location is perfect for both business travellers seeking proximity to the town, leisure guests, those visiting universities in the area, and tourists visiting Scotland’s largest town for its rich cultural offering.”

The interiors at the hotel feature a mix of contemporary and traditional furniture and fittings.

With a floor area of more than 450 sq. ft, the smallest single-bedroom apartments are larger than most hotel suites.

And, at more than 700 sq. ft, their average single-bedroom apartments offer a very generous space in the living rooms and bedrooms.

The stunning entrance hall also features original tiles from the building.

There is no food and beverage offering on site but all apartments have fully fitted and equipped kitchens, widescreen televisions, a dining area, sofa bed and a 6ft king-size bed.

For business guests, each apartment benefits from Wi-Fi throughout. Some apartments have desks and there is also a dishwasher, and a turndown and laundry service if required.

Prices for a room vary from £128 to £255 per night.

There is no minimum stay at The Hazlitt Apartments – but management insist they are ideal for long-term stays and are happy to discuss discounted terms for people calling in for more than one week.

At the turn of the 20th century, the Paisley based company J & P Coats was the third-largest company in the world after US Steel and Standard Oil and many fine buildings were built in the town around this time.

As a result, Paisley has the highest percentage of listed buildings per capita in the UK and many are open to the public, including Coats Memorial (now a thriving venue), Paisley Abbey and the refurbished Paisley Museum and observatory, due to open in 2025.

The recently-refurbished Paisley Town Hall and Paisley Arts Centre are also now open.
