It seems like Facebook is up to everything these days, not least because it's about to start branching out into TV.

Yep, the Facebook takeover is officially coming.

According to Deadline, the first series to get the Facebook (and Simon Fuller) treatment is Norwegian teen drama Skam, which we think is going to be a lot like Skins.

You can watch a trailer for Skam – in Norwegian – below.

The English-language version, Shame, is set to feature on the social network's latest platform Facebook Watch, which was launched to marry content and social media like never before.

First airing in 2015, Skam is a huge hit with young and adult audiences in Scandinavia, with its real-time narrative and unknown actors making it feel as relevant as possible.

Often outperforming rival TV and streaming primetime series in Norway, Skam sounds like a relatively safe bet for Facebook's latest "social" venture.

Facebook isn't alone in expanding into TV; Snapchat is also about to launch its own series with the help of the creators behind The Office US and Parks and Recreation.

Announcing the news earlier today (October 19), Snap Inc revealed their upcoming collaboration with NBC Universal, which plans to deliver brand new content straight to your Snapchat app.

However, the move is unlikely to make TV redundant in the near future, as the Snapchat episodes hitting our phones are only thought to be around 3-5 minutes long. We've seen much longer Snap stories.
