Hit and run which left a child with serious leg injuries in Newton Aycliffe prompts police appeal
A a hit-and-run in which a child suffered serious leg injuries in Newton Aycliffe has led Durham Constabulary to issue an appeal for information.
The incident happened at about 5pm on Thursday, January 16, in Woodham Way. It is believed the vehicle, possibly a dark VW Golf, collided with the child. The driver did not stop at the scene.
The young girl was taken to hospital with serious leg injuries but is understood to now be recovering.
Officers would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or with information about the collision.

According to the force, CCTV footage has circulated on social media, but officers are keen to obtain dashcam and doorbell footage from around the time of the incident.
