There's nothing Hollywood won't remake nowadays, and next in line for the revival treatment is The Bodyguard, the 1992 hit movie that is so intrinsically linked to Whitney Houston's lead performance (and belter of a song).
Yep, that classic flick is being remade with Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L Jackson...well, sort of.
The duo has recreated the iconic poster for the classic romance movie, with all the Nineties trappings: cheesy text, weird blue-y colour scheme and a font no one has used in years.
For comparison's sake, here is the original, without the tagline:
We wonder if anyone from marketing was brave enough to ask Samuel L. Jackson to copy Whitney's outfit.
The parody doesn't stop there though, oh no. Lionsgate has also released the trailer for the upcoming action-comedy, and of course it features that explosion of a chorus.
(Quick heads-up: Samuel L Jackson uses some trademark strong language straight off the bat in the trailer – and again later on.)
Proving that the combination of Deadpool, Nick Fury and Whitney is a match made in heaven, people are very, very excited to see The Hitman's Bodyguard:
(Tweets also contain strong language, but then this is an article about Samuel L. Jackson...)
I'm totally going to go see #HitmansBodyguard. Haven't laugh at a trailer that much in a long time. Pairing Reynolds and Jackson? Dream duo.- Noah Griego (@TheMasked_Demon) April 14, 2017
The Hitman's Bodyguard also stars Gary Oldman and Salma Hayek. Unfortunately, the film won't be out in cinemas until August.
Boo to you, scheduling people. Boo to you.
