HMS Ocean finally returns to the UK after viral Christmas video

The HMS Ocean has returned to the UK days after a heartwarming video celebrating their homecoming went viral on the Internet.

Their hilarious cover of Mariah Carey’s All I want for Christmasfilmed by aviation crew on board HMS Ocean took the Web by storm this week -  racking up over a million views.

A spokesman from the Royal Navy told Yahoo! News that the ship docked at Plymouth at 10am on Friday.

The sailors filmed the video to mark the excited crew’s return to the UK after spending a gruelling seven-and-half-months in deployment away from their loved ones.
During the festive four-minute footage, the camera cuts to clips of cheeky servicemen having fun in different parts of the ship, including dancing in the showers and sipping champagne in a bubble bath while miming to the 1994 smash hit.

One clip even features half-naked crew members wearing what appear to be giant presents on deck while in another, a man in an officer’s uniform sings as he sits on the toilet.

At the end of the footage, the crew spells out the words “Merry Xmas from HMS Ocean” with their bodies on deck.

The 900-person capacity HMS Ocean was initially sent out for a seven-week exercise but was diverted to Libya for further operations and has spent a total of 176 days at sea.

In that time, members of the crew have flown to the UK and back to the ship to attend 15 births, five weddings and birthdays.

The video even caught the attention of US singer Mariah Carey herself, who tweeted: “This is the best thing I've ever seen, you guys just made my day! Happy Happy Christmas!!!”

HMS Ocean is the largest ship in the Royal Navy.
