Yahoo News Holby City casts Jo Martin as new neurosurgeon Max McGerry
Actress Jo Martin will be joining the cast of Holby City.
Jo is set to play the character of Max McGerry, a new consultant neurosurgeon who comes to Holby to visit a patient.
Her sterling reputation doesn't go unnoticed by Ric Griffin (Hugh Quarshie), who asks Jo to hang for a little longer at Holby. But, little does she know that her task involves a potential risk.
Before her role on the BBC One series, Jo has appeared in Back To Life, Fleabag, The Long Song and Silent Witness.

Sharing her excitement to join Holby, Jo said: "I am thrilled to be joining such an amazing show, which I have been a fan of for years. Playing Max will be a pleasure; she is very complex with no filter."
While Simon Harper, executive producer of Holby City and Casualty, shared that Jo has been on their "radar" for some time and he revealed more details about her role at the medical hospital.
"Jo is a fabulous addition to the Holby gang, both a hugely talented dramatic actor and comedian," he said. "She's been on our admiring radar for some time while we thought up the right part for her.
"Max is a brilliant, multi-faceted character worthy of her gifts: wry, funny, passionately driven and with no patience whatsoever for political correctness, or 'snowflakes' as she calls them.

"So Holby's staff had better watch out. Professionally, her story will explore highly topical questions about the future of the NHS, while her personal life becomes increasingly turbulent."
Poking fun at what it takes to be a neurosurgeon at Holby, Harper added: "Traditionally, of course, being a neurosurgeon at Holby has been the equivalent of Defence of the Dark Arts at Hogwarts – a poisoned chalice!"
Jo has already begun filming and she is set to appear on Holby City later this autumn.
Holby City airs on Tuesday evenings at 8pm on BBC One.
