Holby City spoilers follow.

Holby City has confirmed a bulimia story for doctor Josh Hudson, following the premature arrival of his twins.

Recent episodes have seen Josh (Trieve Blackwood-Cambridge) struggle to juggle his new responsibilities with his already high-pressured job.

Josh has also been avoiding meals, running excessively and using caffeine pills in an effort to stay awake and focused.

Josh's mum Elaine has addressed her concerns about her son's welfare, but the real reason behind her worries only became apparent last night.

When Elaine paid another visit to the hospital, she grew further concerned when Josh's partner Ange said innocuously that she couldn't remember the last time she'd seen him eat.

With Josh preparing to head out on his second run of the day, Elaine confronted him, where his history with bulimia became evident.

Although Josh insisted that he had everything under control, his palpable exhaustion during his run suggested that this wasn't the case.

Sure enough, next week's episode will explore Josh's problems in earnest as he falls back into worrying habits on his birthday.

Overwhelmed by Ange's food-orientated plans, Josh begins to make himself sick again, sparking suspicion from his new friend Eli.

When Josh's work starts to suffer as a result, he decides to open up to Eli about what's going on.

Josh explains that he had bulimia when he was doing his A-levels several years ago, when he was struggling with the additional strain of his mum's illness.

Eli is supportive of Josh, but does advise him to let Ange in on what's going on.

However, Josh remains adamant that he doesn't want Ange involved, fearful that it could ruin the dynamics of their relationship forever. Will Eli decide to keep Josh's sad struggle to himself?

Holby City continues on Tuesday, October 26 at 7.50pm on BBC One.
