Holby City spoilers follow.

Tonight's episode of Holby City saw the shock return of Cameron Dunn (Nic Jackman) and it looks like he has some unfinished business.

Cameron was last seen back in March when he was arrested by police after his crimes were finally revealed, but Holby City had a shock in store for viewers tonight (August 24) when Cameron returned to Holby as part of Eli's stent trial.

Unsurprisingly, Chloe (Amy Lennox) was shocked that he was being brought back and had tried to plead with Eli to use someone else.

When back in the hospital, Cameron tried to prove he was a changed man, even saying being part of the trial was like getting a "collective redemption".

However it was soon revealed to all be an act, as Cameron taunted Chloe, saying it was all her fault. He then managed to escape from his hospital bed and the episode ended with Cameron on the run.

After the episode aired, the soap released a new trailer that shows that newly-free Cameron has a plan – and that he seems to be making a plan to target Chloe following his escape.

Back in March, Nic Jackman spoke about how much he enjoyed playing Cameron.

"I've loved playing him. It was really brave for a show like Holby to have a character who was this dark for this long. It's quite unusual to be given that. I was really lucky, it was really meaty," he said.

"I just got stuck in and I've loved playing the villain. It's nice now I am able to talk about it. There have been so many secrets I've had to keep for a long time, knowing how dark he goes. I am so glad we can finally have a chat about it!"

Holby City airs on Tuesdays on BBC One.
