Holby City actor Amy Lennox has thanked fans for their "kind messages" following her character Chloe Godard's exit from the show.

The fictional doctor waved goodbye to the titular hospital in last night's dramatic episode (September 14), as she accepted a registrar job in Switzerland.

Her moving final moments saw her tell her mother Ange (Dawn Steele) about the move, to which she responded by asking Chloe to name her baby sister, who was born prematurely amid the chaos following the explosion.

Taking to Instagram a little while after it aired, the actor – who has been a part of the long-running medical series since January 2019 – posted a photo of an empty packet of crisps, as well as Chloe's name badge, stethoscope and trusty Nike trainers alongside a heartfelt caption.

"This is Ms Chloe Godard signing off …… thanks for the kind messages for Chloe's final ep," she began.

"Sorry I've been quiet... didn't want to say anything and get in trouble 😂 It's been a blast working with an incredible cast and team.

"I miss my beef Hula Hoops, I miss mornings in makeup with the best girls and I miss my Darwin fam – we shall be partying together soon enough though," Lennox continued, before offering up an idea as to what's in store for Chloe "off screen".

"PS. Chloe is loving life in Switzerland - she got off the plane and immediately met some gorgeous hunk of a surgeon," she joked. "Now she spends her weekends skiing and fine dining and she lived happily ever after… The end."

Holby City airs on Tuesdays on BBC One.
