Actor David Ames has addressed his future on the show following that storyline and the exits of some of his castmates, but fans have nothing to worry about as Dom is "sticking" with the show.
Ames revealed that not only will he be hanging around for the foreseeable future, but that his character goes through a "fascinating journey" in the next few months.
"Dom's very much sticking with it, and he has a lot of stuff coming up," Ames told Inside Soap.
"It's a really fascinating journey that he goes on in the coming few months, and Dom has a lot to get to grips with. He's not going anywhere for a little while!"
Following the car crash, Dom was left with a stoma bag after a pole impaled his abdomen, and it's something he will continue to struggle with – and his anger is the first hurdle for him.
"As much as he understands his colleagues made a medical decision that saved his life, Dom feels as if his pride, his appearance, and his independence have been whipped away, and he's now reliant on a lifetime of taking antibiotics and not being able to do certain things.
"It's shaken up who he considers himself to be – and he's seeking someone to blame."
Holby City continues on Tuesday, February 23 at 7.50pm on BBC One.
