Lee Mead has revealed that his Holby City character Lofty Chiltern will be on our screens for the foreseeable future.

Speaking about his big TV gig on Graham Norton's Radio 2 show today (March 23), the 37-year-old delighted listeners by confirming that Lofty won't be going anywhere anytime soon.

"I'm still on screen – we shoot three months in advance, and I've just signed for a third year," he said of how long Lofty will be sticking around.

And judging from the actor's next words, it sounds like his role in Holby has helped him get more of a balance in his life.

"I just love playing Lofty, he's a great character. I'm really happy there. We're filming at Elstree, so it's one hour from home back in Southend, and I've just got more of a life balance, and I love playing the role as well," he shared.

"If you have a big storyline, you're there five days a week, 12 hours a day, but you can have two, three, four weeks where you're just off sat at home."

Four weeks sat at home? That certainly sounds like a pretty good gig to us, where do we sign up?

Holby City airs on BBC One.
