Holby City's Trieve Blackwood-Cambridge has teased that the BBC One show will be going out with a bang.

The Josh Hudson star opened up about what fans can expect from the final episodes during an appearance on Lorraine on Tuesday (November 2). Understandably, the actor couldn't give too much away about how things will end, though he did admit that the cast and crew "have amazing storylines coming up and the fans are in for a real treat!

"That's all I can say," he added.

The actor also opened up about what it's meant to him to appear on the long-running medical drama, saying: "I know the show has so much history and we love the fans. The fans have been loyal to us since day one. It's a huge honour to come into this show and be part of this as well."

Fans were left devastated when it was revealed in June that the show will officially come to an end in March 2022.

The controller of BBC drama commissioning, Piers Wenger, opened up about the somewhat surprising decision last month, telling Digital Spy and other press that it was an "incredibly difficult" choice to make.

He added: "We knew we had EastEnders, Holby and Casualty – all of which are based in the South, albeit Casualty in Wales – we knew we needed to better reflect life across the whole of England, which is why we've chosen to bring back Waterloo Road."

Since the announcement, things have really ramped up at Holby in anticipation for the end. September saw Cameron Dunn killed off in a dramatic explosion after planting a bomb in the hospital to get revenge on his former colleagues.

And if Trieve's tease is anything to go by, it sounds like we can expect more explosive content (be it literally or figuratively) to hit our screens over the next few months!

Holby City airs on Tuesdays on BBC One.
