Holidaymaker says Turkey resort is 'finished' after being charged £15 for a single drink
A man has expressed his astonishment at the significant price increases in one of his top European holiday spots.
The popular resort town of Marmaris in Turkey is experiencing an unusual quietness this season, with fewer tourists than usual. Holidaymakers have taken to TikTok to comment on the unexpected tranquillity of the destination.
The slump in tourist numbers is being attributed to the steep rise in expenses faced by visitors this year.

The individual, who goes by the username @marmarislovers on TikTok and seems to be involved in the tourism industry, has voiced his concern that "Marmaris will have no tourists in 2025" due to the prohibitive costs. He shared his disappointment about the lacklustre season, remarking: "This season has been so quiet, it's sad to see. Also 2025 has 15 per cent price increase again. Vodka and Coke already £15 alone. Can go Dubai for same price."
His video has left many viewers astounded, with several struggling to grasp the extent of the price hikes in Marmaris. According to Birmingham Live, while some users anticipated the cost increases from their previous visits, a woman commented that this trend "has been going on for 20 years" and has decided not to return, reports the Mirror.
Nonetheless, there are others who believe the prices are not excessively high.
In the comments section, an individual lamented their expensive stay stating: "I'm here right now. The money I've spent here, I could have done a banging 10/10 Thailand holiday."
Another traveller expressed their astonishment at local prices: "Dalaman Airport. Burger King meal for two was 40 Euros."
Adding to the thread, someone else shared: "It's such a shame for Turkey. I've been going years, but won't be going again."
Yet another chimed in with their own experience: "Been going 16 years. Sadly last year for us - June was a fortune."
As some visitors recounted tales of pricey trips to Turkey, others spoke of value encounters, with a British tourist remarking on social media: "I'd love to know where this £15 vodka and Coke is. I've been paying like 250 lira (£5.60) for two."
A fellow Brit joined the discussion, saying: "I'm literally just back from Turkey. Going back again in October for 10 days, then booked again for next year in July. Then hopefully again in October next year too."
And a dedicated enthusiast of the country declared: "Turkey is the best place. Been going for 25 years. Amazing, clean and people can't do enough. Respect the country and people."
