Holly Willoughby’s Surprise Surprise Axed From ITV

Holly Willoughby’s heartwarming show Surprise Surprise, which was revived in 2012 following a 17 year run with the late TV legend Cilla Black at the helm, has been given the chop for good as part of a shake up within ITV.

The broadcasters – which recently took over The Voice from the BBC – are forcing a number of programmes with dated formats to walk the plank in favour of fresh and “exciting” content.

Vernon Kay’s All-Star Family Fortunes is another that has been cancelled, and a source revealed to the Daily Mirror: “By 2018, it’s unlikely that any of these formats from yesteryear will still on the screen. It’s time to try out new stuff and everyone is very excited about what’s in the pipeline.“

Holly’s This Morning co-host Phillip Schofield has avoided the first cull with his show All Star Mr & Mrs, which is set to return to the box later this year along with her pal Keith Lemon’s series Through the Keyhole.

However, Vernon’s Catchphrase and Phillip‘s game show The Cube have reportedly been added to the hit list. Though ITV have responded to the claims of a major overhaul and said it is “pure speculation”.

A spokesperson for the channel said: "All the titles remain in the mix for next year and it’s pure speculation they may not return.”

Meanwhile, Holly has already begun working on a new dating show called Meet The Parents.

The blonde beauty recently said of the show: “We all know how embarrassing parents can be and nobody knows you better than they do. I can’t wait to hear what humiliating secrets they’ll be revealing and see who will regret leaving their love life in the hands of their parents.”
