Yahoo News Hollyoaks' Abe makes surprise admission to Cleo in new scenes

Hollyoaks spoilers follow from Monday's episode on Channel 4 streaming, which doesn't air on E4 until Tuesday.
Tonight's (July 8) Hollyoaks streaming episode saw Abe Fielding make a surprise admission to Cleo McQueen amid their ongoing abuse storyline.
The soap has recently shown Abe being both physically and emotionally abusive towards his partner Cleo as she is in recovery from bulimia.
Recent scenes saw Cleo at loggerheads with John Paul after he confronted her over being sick in the toilet – but it wasn't Cleo, it was Zoe suffering from morning sickness.

John Paul's confrontation caused a scene in front of Abe, which pushed him to suggest to Cleo that they move into their own flat together.
Tonight's episode began with John Paul sharing his upset over Cleo moving out. "You accused me of being sick in front of everyone, it was embarrassing," said Cleo. "You're just desperate for me to mess up, aren't you?"
John Paul then brought Sally over to try to convince Cleo to rethink her decision, with Cleo expressing her frustration with her family.

"I just don't want to live with people who don't trust me, who are watching everything that I eat," she said, to which Sally added: "We're a family, we love you. It'd be a shame if you left like this."
Abe then found a uneaten lemon tart in the bin, which an angry Cleo accused John Paul of throwing away – cementing her decision to leave.
At the park, Cleo opened up to Sally about feeling like she's "failing at everything", before revealing that intrusive thoughts led to her making an appointment with the eating disorder clinic.

Later, Cleo told Abe she isn't ready to move in with him, which made him turn aggressive."I stood by you when your family were going at you and now you've made me look stupid," he shouted.
As Dave tried to intervene, an angry Abe punched him, leaving Cleo furious. "When I was ill, my family were there for me. They understand what I need," said Cleo, with Abe decisively replying: "Well, so do I!"
Cleo is then shocked when Abe revealed that he, too, has experienced an eating disorder. "I had anorexia," he said.
Will Abe's admission mark a turning point in his relationship with Cleo?
Hollyoaks streams first online via Channel 4 each weekday at 7.30pm. Episodes then air on E4 the following day, before getting their YouTube premiere a week after that.
