Misbah Maalik has opened up to her family about being sexually assaulted in powerful scenes in Hollyoaks.
The show is exploring the vital importance of consent in a new storyline that sees Misbah unearthing old memories around the night of her son Shaq's conception.
Wednesday's (November 3) first-look episode opened with Misbah struggling with memories coming back after Yazz found her old maang tikka.
As Misbah caught up to Imran in the marketplace to apologise for their row the night before, a young couple started giving her flashbacks to the way Ali tried to manipulate her into terminating her pregnancy at uni.
Because she was so shaken by the memories flooding back, Misbah could barely take in Imran confessing he'd been lying about going to university.
When it came time for the gala dinner in Ali's honour, Misbah stepped up to the microphone for her speech and used it to delve into her own memories of their past.
"Do you remember? It's a simple enough question," she asked the attendees. "Do you remember what you said? What was said?"
Misbah was derailed by Shaq and Sami arguing over Verity at their table, and when Ali insulted them both, she rushed out of the hall after explaining they were all stopping her from "remembering".
After her exit, Ali immediately tried to play the situation to his advantage by telling Toby he was worried about Misbah because she's always been "complicated".
However, Misbah finally shared she'd been struggling with Sami and her children back at the house once they asked her whether she needed support.
Yazz questioned Misbah on why she kept staring at the maang tikka, after Misbah begged her to take it off since she'd worn it on the night of Shaq's conception.
"Mum, look at me," Yazz demanded. "Was the sex consensual?"
Though Misbah first insisted she wasn't "one of those women", she eventually acknowledged that Ali had raped her on the night of Shaq's conception.
Later, Yazz reiterated to Misbah that just because she hadn't "said no", it doesn't mean she consented, with the doctor coming to the realisation that Ali knew all along she didn't want to have sex that night.
"It's true, isn't it? Ali raped me," Misbah confided in Yazz.
Shaq immediately stormed over to confront his father, but Ali lied by claiming Misbah had consented.
His son picked up a metal pitcher and told his father: "I don't believe you."
This powerful story continues later this week.
