Hollyoaks spoilers follow.

Prince McQueen is officially back in Hollyoaks village as the character finally returned to surprise mum Goldie McQueen.

Malique Thompson-Dwyer has reprised his role as Prince McQueen after two years away, making his return in Tuesday's (September 7) first-look episode on E4 after Martine (Kéllé Bryan) headed around to the McQueens to invite Cleo (Nadine Mulkerrin) to Walter's birthday party.

While she didn't find Cleo, Martine did run into Goldie (Chelsee Healey), who was feeling upset because she'd missed a few calls from Prince.

"He only ever rings me when there's something wrong," Goldie told Martine. "He's rung me five times, and now he's not answering. What about if he's had an accident?"

Later after talking to Martine, Goldie realised that maybe she'd been overreacting to the missed calls, but admitted that she misses having her boys around.

"I just wish that Brighton wasn't so far away," Goldie said. "I wish I'd made more of an effort when they were at home. If I could go back, I would make every day something to remember."

And before long it looked like Goldie may have gotten her wish, as by the end of the episode Prince rang once again and had a lot of fun pranking his mum when she asked if he'd been swept out to sea.

"How could I resist that?" Prince teased as he walked into The Dog to surprise his mum, but before she could give him a hug, she stopped short.

"Wait, why are you home?" she demanded. "Something's happened, hasn't it Prince? You better tell me right now this minute!"

Future spoilers have already teased that Prince has some big news to share with his family as he prepares to introduce them to his new fiancée Olivia (Emily Burnett).

How will Goldie respond to the new arrival?

Speaking about his return to the show earlier this month, Malique Thompson-Dwyer admitted that he was nervous about stepping back into the role, but added that when he did it felt like he'd "never left".

"You know what, I was bricking it coming back, just because I've been away for so long. I'm a bit rusty but I'm really enjoying myself," he explained.

"There are some new people, new faces. I'm just glad to be back, back with the family, it just feels like home. I feel like I’ve never left."

Hollyoaks airs new episodes from Mondays to Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first-look screenings at 7pm on E4. Selected omnibus episodes are available via Amazon Prime Video.
